The ecological certificate guarantees our exploitation and products according to the Regulations (CEE) 2092/91, which rules the ecological nutrition in Europe.
The most important differences between conventional and ecological exploitations are:
• Environment: Our beehives are placed 3km away from conventional farming or polluted areas by industries, cities, highways, etc. They have got a high quality water fountain. In most of the almost 20 beehives we own, this distance is doubled.
• Materials: Our beehives are made of pine wood. Outwardly they are covered with a microcrystalline layer. Its decontamination it’s made by a blowpipe and bleach at 20%.
• Wax: We make the wax layers from the wax’s operculs left on the honey filters. In addition of the wax of the frames we clean with the steam waxier. To the conservation of the wax we use sulfur wicks.
• Smoked: As combustible for the smoker we use dried thymes with pressed carton.
• Feeding: We make the feeding and the stimulation with the rest of the honey left on the filters. Mixed with water, we introduce it in the wood feeders in the beehives. To that mix we add biodynamic prepared based on plants, to increase the bee’s immunizer system and the queen laying.
• Health: Prevention is the main point so we have got a hospital beehive for the “weakest” beehives. We do not use antibiotics, nor plaguecides that leave residuals on the honey and wax. We use thymol dissolved on olive oil against the varroa and selected breeding of drones. We want to succeed without using any products against the varroa.
All those ecological techniques with our continuous investigations, innovations and respect for the environment makes of URZAPA ECOLOGICAL HONEY, something else than only a bee-keeping exploitation with ecological certificate.
